The Lost Mountain is an auto-biographical account of the writer’s life changing journey across one of the most wild and rugged mountain ranges in Europe.
In August 2008, having become utterly bored of his monotonous office life, David Bryan set out on an ambitious, and some might say naive, journey to walk the entire length of the Pyrenees mountain range in Northern Spain from their starting point at Cape Higer on the Atlantic coast to the finishing point 450 miles away at Cape de Creus on the Mediterranean, following the GR11 trail.
Grossly inexperienced and unfamiliar with the terrain, culture and language he soon found trouble in the form of severe storms, wild dogs and both physical and mental exhaustion.
The story is one of challenges which must be faced and overcome in the feet, mind and spirit of a wayward office worker and the 44 days he spent in the mountains. It is not just about a young man finding his way on a map, but also about him finding his place in the world.
