Description

Do you think you're going to heaven? Did you know that the Bible says that the present heaven and earth are going to be destroyed? Read Rev. 21:1. There is a huge difference between what is taught in most churches and what is taught in the Bible.

We are in a period of Biblical illiteracy. Most Sunday Schools take a passage out of the Bible and force a moral point and then next Sunday bounce to some other passage of the Bible. If you were raised in Sunday School, how many times did they cover Samson or Gideon? How many times did they cover Samgar, Deborah and Barak, or Ehud? They were judges too. Ask your kids who came first - Moses or Paul? or Moses and Abraham? You might be surprised by what you hear.

Most church services aren't much better. They also take a verse or two and then the pastor spends a half hour moralizing on it. The reality is that in most churches, a person attending every service for a year will know no more about the Bible then what they knew at the beginning of the year. Think your pastor knows the Bible? A good pastor doesn't have to be a Biblical scholar but most pastors really should know more than they do about the Bible. If you're curious, give your pastor a quick test. Ask him who Samgar was. Ask him the name of the only female judge. Take one of the last 4 or 5 books of the Old Testament and read over 4 or 5 times until you know it pretty well. Then ask him about the book. You might be surprised what you find out.

Believe it or not there are passages in the Bible that indicate that some Demons are good. I thought it might be interesting to do the book as a series of interviews with a good demon. I sometimes use the demon to speculate, but if I think there is something you really need to know - then I always give Biblical references.

In the book, I try to go over the most important and misunderstood teachings of the Bible and I also throw in some of the most interesting teachings of the Bible.
