There is more to astrology than divination. What interested the ancients (and should us too) is that there is pattern manifest in the macrocosm that cannot be explained by simple reference to inanimate forces such as gravity. We live in a cosmos where there is order and order implies intelligence. This is the deeper level of meaning, the cosmic wisdom that provides both a means of study and a language for investigating concepts that go far beyond the mundane.
In this pioneering work, Adrian Gilbert investigates the philosophy of astrology: what he terms 'astrosophy' using four, distinct avenues of approach. These, which correspond to the four divisions of this book, are science (Earth0, Art (Water), Philosophy (Air) and Religion (Fire). Comprehension of these four modes brings can about gnosis, which is to say knowledge of the order in which we find ourselves. This, which cannot itself be put into adequae words, is the fruit of the Tree of Life, astrosophy being a ladder by which it can be reached.
Adrian Gilbert is the author of eleven books to date including 'The Orion Mystery' (co-authored with Robert Bauval), 'Magi', 'Signs in the Sky' and 'The New Jerusalem'. He has lectured in many different countries and appeared on TV in a number of documentaries. He is married and lives in England.
