The First King of England (A Dark Ages Novel Book 1)

The year is 895 in the period in British history known as the Dark Ages. The Anglo Saxons are ruling Wessex and Mercia while the Vikings rule in Danelaw. Unrest is widespread across the country.

The illegitimate grandson of King Alfred is born to Prince Edward and his consort, Ecgwynn, a shepherd’s daughter. He is destined to become one of England’s greatest rulers uniting all of England under his crown.

His name is Athelstan - the first King of England.

In his 44 years of life he has to fight off many challenges from the Vikings, the Scots and the Welsh as well as some of his own people, including his brother, before fulfilling his destiny.
