Description ▲
This Kindle document is the culmination of a three month action research (AR) project. It was undertaken with the purpose of getting the unheard voice heard in a writing and dialogue group in the Northeast. This work describes the transformation of the group in that three month time span under which the study took place. AR utilizes a four cycle process of discovery, measurable action, reflection, and action, in order to strategically work towards a goal with data constantly informing decisions. It is these qualities of AR that make it ideal for social justice and educational equity work. Action Research makes participants into researchers through inquiry, reflection, collaboration, and action to solve a problem under scrutiny. As you read this and think about AR, you will find that this process is similar to what every good business will do to understand the organizational culture and process/operations that affect the variables being tracked within an organization. Due to the personal nature of what was shared within this study the names have been removed and/or changed to respect the confidentiality of the participants.
