The sequel to ‘It Started With An Ouzo’ the book written by Stuart Allan, under the pseudonym of Stavros Allanopolis. The first book was the 'first chapter' of his new life in Greece, and this book is the 'second chapter' so to speak. It covers the 12 months period of December 2009 until December 2010 and charts the many extremes of pleasure and tragedy experienced by Stavros as he went about his job; 'Watching The Olives Grow' in his olive grove in Agios Nikolaos, which is a small fishing village on the Peloponnese, in The Mani Region; South West mainland Greece.
After having left the UK to go and live permanently in a remote fishing village in Greece, Stavros spent almost two years getting his house and garden organised, and becoming established within the local community of. It was during December 2009 that Stavros Allanoplis decided to get a job. He thought it might only be part-time but it was to become his full time occupation, that of sitting on his terrace every day ‘Watching The Olives Grow’ right before his very own eyes.
He owns 17 Olive trees and the book recounts the various ‘adventures’ experienced as he went about his job (watching them grow) from one harvest to the next. Read about Greek weddings, strikes and riots in the streets and a new addition to his family as well as his various building projects. You will appreciate that he works very hard at ‘Watching The Olives Grow’ but as he says in the book ....... "It's a hard job, but someone has to do it. Thank goodness around here it is me!"
