Damaged psychologically by the effects of two world wars, a family is suddenly made homeless through a breach of trust. They are forced to move from London to a dilapidated country cottage. The cottage is tied to a demeaning job in a village foundry. There, the father is pursued by ghosts that have haunted him ever since his wartime exploits. Tension builds until something inexplicably brutal occurs...
