The Bat Tree

This memoir is the antidote to "Eat, Pray,Love" - not India in an ashram or on the back of an elephant, but the daily life - in all its frustrations and noise - of living in India for six months. This is also a confession: there were Big Bad Secrets hidden at home, and I confronted them here.
And this is also about middle aged Generation X, snark, hating/digging India, being in love, celebrity confession, dirt, slums, haggling, loud temple music, cruelty, bullshit, drinking too much wine, homesickness, really good channa masala, wanting to know why I do the stupid things I do, having no answers, music, cigarettes, rickshaws, my body, Indian landlords, and small stabs at a sort of truth.
A small warning: it's pretty graphic material; not at all for sensitive English roses.
