The author of the book of James in the New Testament was the first bishop of Jerusalem. He, like Jesus, probably spoke Aramaic. Yet the oldest original texts of the book of James are in Greek. Is it possible his texts were originally in Aramaic?
Most scholars agree that Paul’s work was recorded in Greek. However, I submit 4 books of Paul’s for you to examine based upon Aramaic manuscripts. Like the book of James, I was suprised at how readily they readily “fell out” in Aramaic. Did Paul write in Aramaic to anyone?
Ephesus and Colosse were located in Turkey, closer to Syria and the Aramaic speaking nations. Thessalonica was very close to Greece, but the letter is truly beautiful in Aramaic. Finally, did Paul correspond with Timothy in Aramaic?
