The Last Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: The Heiress of the Castle of Ightham

Mr Hector Witfield was found dead in a dark alley behind the Green Man Pub. According to Inspector Lestrade there is evidence to connect Mrs Witfield with the odious crime in Chelsea. The widow is supposed to inherit her late husband’s fortune.

When Sherlock Holmes is hired by the distraught widow, he finds out more about the infamous reputation of her late husband. The artistic agent was known as the master blackmailer of many Pre-Raphaelite painters in Cheyne Walk. The murder may be the revenge of one of his numerous victims. The circumstances of Mr Witfield's death are telling: his throat was slit. The murderer inserted a ten shilling coin in it. Was it tit for tat?

The life of Mrs Witfield is now in the hands of Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson.
