The Writing Prompt

Writing should be easy. All you have to do is take what you’d say if you were talking and then put it on paper. But when it comes to writing at school, the topic means everything. A bad topic for a school assignment can mean hours of frustration and a blank sheet of paper. So if you’re a student and you get a bad writing prompt, what can you do?

Danny Dornan was a nerdy tenth-grader with a sweet-voiced nerd girlfriend. Unfortunately, this girlfriend was a vocal critic of the Curse brothers, the local high school bullies. Now that he had a girlfriend, Danny couldn’t hide from the Curse brothers, not without looking like a coward to the rest of the school. And that was just the beginning of Danny’s problems.

Based on a true story, The Writing Prompt combines fiction and nonfiction, delving into the writing process and showing how the written word can change (and even screw up) a person’s life.
