When Gon, the Oldest Living Vampire, was a mortal man, he had two wives: the Neanderthal Eyya and the tempestuous Nyala. Nyala is a crotchety old grandmother now, and her husband Gon is worshipped as a god by their people. Nyala knows her husband is no god, but when their village is raided by the Foul Ones, a neighboring tribe of brutal cannibals, and two of Nyala's granddaughters are taken captive, Nyala seeks out Gon in the hopes that he can find and rescue their children.
