Synopsis

The Dukes of England were very Rich and a law unto themselves. Women were to be seen but not heard. When the two grand old Dukes sat down together their son and daughter`s fate was sealed. Between them they had arranged for them to be married and hopefully produce an heir to carry their name on. But Catherine was a woman who wanted to marry for love and nothing else.
The Dukes were far too powerful for even Catherine to refuse her father’s demands, they were married and after four years Catherine had failed to deliver an heir. Her head was now on the block Richard a French aristocrat who was her father in laws estate manager, could be the solution to her problem as James her husband was never going to achieve it. The constant drinking and womanising had made sure of that. Richard was known to have made many young women pregnant; it was Catherine’s only answer to producing an heir. Richard wanted to go back to France and create his own empire; he was tired of running the estate for the duke’s son to see James benefit from his hard work. Catherine had the solution for both their problems, Richard would agree to this for a large sum of money. When Catherine announced she was pregnant her future was secured, but Richard had fallen in love with Catherine. Her husband James was far too powerful for him; Richard had to go back to France. Secure. But in time it would come back to haunt her as Richard was determined to have her.
He was a man of pure evil and would do anything to get what he wanted, he kept in touch with James and both agreed to become partners in the thriving wine industry. There bought up the best Vineyards’ in France and it was not long before they both achieved their goals. James soon began to take up his flamboyant lifestyle once again; Richard was keen to arrange the perfect mistress for him and Catherine relate ship with James would be history!
But Catherine was a women who when cornered, would come out fighting. When she did the consequences were deadly, as love and betrayal and even murder are committed. Catherine was one step ahead of both Richard and James and had found true love in Marquis a man who was capable of giving her protection. He was the Dukes Banker a very rich man and was one of the finest swordsmen around; Richard could do nothing with him. As for James he was forced to remain in France. Marquis enjoyed the companionship of Catherine and it was only a matter of time before they became lovers. Soon Catherine marriage would be over and she would be free to pursue Marquis her true love. When Richard and James went back to England they attended a dinner party with Marquis’s first true love Victoria. Catherine quickly realised there were still feelings within their hearts for one another. Marquis was torn and eventually chose his first love. Catherine was once again beaten, but she would not give up and was a match for them all. Hell breaks out as they plot against one and another even the Daughters them self’s, become caught up in Richard attempts to trap there mother. Only by reading can only admire and truly appreciate the way in which Catherine continues to fight to survive amongst one the most powerful times in the history of male domination and appreciate the immense task ahead and more important can she survive without losing her head?
