“Subversion” is a contemporary political/medical thriller with supernatural undertones, where a handsome and brilliant medical researcher battles to thwart a beautiful and relentless villain to a suspenseful, action-packed ending where the stakes couldn’t be higher. The novel, released before the current unfortunate Ebola outbreak, has startling parallels to that threatening African pandemic.

Dr. Collin De Gise is a thirty-nine-year-old, Nobel prize-winning virologist who lives near Washington DC with his beautiful and brilliant wife and autistic but gifted daughter. He is developing a vaccine for the catastrophic “Vampire Virus” at the prestigious National Health Foundation near Bethesda, Maryland--a pet project of the First Lady. This deadly organism has killed one million African children and now the ghastly pandemic threatens the North American continent. His guilt-ridden, violent past as a crack commando during Gulf War Two left him with serious psychiatric problems and a pacifist philosophy.

Formulating the vaccine involves altering the deadly virus through the state-of-the art, scientific process of “molecular manipulation,” and that runs the risk of producing an even deadlier organism—a “Super-virus.” What if such a horrific germ were to get loose? What is this was really the aim of an age-old, dark conspiracy?

Through the ages, wars, revolution, dangerous scientific discoveries, and the birth of key tyrants have all been carefully orchestrated though masterful women and the men they manipulate—to one catastrophic end. The only remaining evidence of this dark conspiracy is incriminating photos and paintings of key perpetrators buried in old museums and out-of-print books, most of which had been purposefully destroyed years ago. Our thriller begins when Collin inadvertently opens one of these books and sees his youthful loved one in a seventy-year-old photo—in a Nazi uniform—beating death camp inmates with her dog whip. The photo is dated 1943!

Collin struggles to uncover this wrenching mystery, leading him to shocking discoveries involving the highest levels in government and the scientific community. As our fast-paced story progresses, his family bliss transforms into a violent struggle against a ruthless, subversive villain that undermines his pacifism, forcing him to confront mental instability, murders, betrayal, false-identity, and the meaning of life and faith itself.

Through ruthless action to save what is good about the world, he combats the evil force that tries to destroy him—plunging us into a surprise, action-packed climax that embraces both his tragic flaws and his latent flair for violence. Close to the fiftieth anniversary of the horrible Kennedy assassination in Dallas on November 22, 1963, our story intersects history during the gravity of that moment, along with other historically troubling milestones.
