Description

Magdala, Israel
The morning was overcast and full of foreboding. Cass saw Mary for the first time in the market square out front of the Jewish temple of Magdala on the Sea of Galilee. She was a vision of loveliness with a timeless sense of style. She gave alms to some of the lowliest vagrants. And then she offered him some Christian hospitality. He grinned like a favored fool in the presence of her awe inspiring beauty. She bought them lunch in the food market. He was still dumb-struck until the end of the meal. She told him, "My life's verse is Ephesians chapter two, verses four and five. But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, by grace are you saved."
Cass was astonished to say the least. In fact, he did not know what to say to the woman sitting close beside him. If it hadn’t been for the word of the young prophetess in Caesarea, he never would have guessed that this woman was the infamous Lady Luck. She was supposed to be able to lead him to his brother Qayin. He continued to play the role of a simpleton, because it suited him for the time being.
Dead Sea
Cassidy Le Mason was hot on the trial of his notorious big brother. By his calculations he was only one hour behind Qayin. Now he was walking at night through the wilderness east of the Jordan River. There was a full moon with scattered silver clouds. A chill crawled over his skin. He could feel and sense history all around him. The fifteen year old could sense the past with every step. He could smell the scent of the long-dead flowers that once bloomed in the Garden of Eden. The spirit realm and the material realm were colliding all around him in a mosaic of sights, sounds and smells. Suddenly he quickened his gate, when he saw a long rooster tail of dust rising from the east. It was not far away to begin with, and now it was coming closer at a quick clip. Their paths would intersect at the next colossal stone outcropping. At first the source of the moving black cloud appeared to be an army of undead soldiers. The young Frenchman climbed up the eastern escarpment to spy on the marching phantasms. Now he could clearly see by the light of the waxing moon, the uniforms of the hundreds of spectral beings. They were once men of Persia, Media, and Arabia.
The Holy Spirit whispered to his heart, "They are the Guardians of the Treasure beyond the Holy Land. In life, they worshipped Allah the god of the Black Stone of Mecca. Now they are the Dwellers of the Valley of Stone in Petra. Muhammad is the phantom high priest at their Temple Mount."
The spirit of Cass trembled as he asked, "What is the treasure that the dead spirits guard?"
"It is Salomé," answered the Lord of Hosts. "She is the High Priestess of Witchcraft; the main religion that worships Satan."
The rear flanks of the column were the ghosts of the Builders of the Tower of Babel. They were the cursed spirits that had influenced King Nimrod with pride. It was the evil spirit's plan for the Great Hunter and his followers to build a bridge to heaven, so that Satan and his army could ascend to the challenge God once more. Cass chose to ignore the incredible phantasms and to stay on course. He had to save his big brother's soul from the flames of hell.
