TAXI - YOU SHOULD WRITE A BOOK

Hi my name is John, I’m a taxi driver aged 50 from a small town in the north of England. I have an outgoing personality and am generally always pleasantly optimistic and upbeat. In spite of this (because I don’t drink) my wife of 23 years often refers to me as "that grumpy, miserable bastard". I like to think that the majority of my customers enjoy my friendly banter as I can talk for England.

As a boy I was brought up in one of the rougher areas of the town and was taught to always be able to think for myself and make my own decisions without being judgemental. I hope this shows within these short stories. In short I say things as I see them without discrimination. I have a very strong personality and although I am always up for a laugh I don’t suffer fools gladly.

If I was to describe myself looks wise it would be as having a Jack Black body with a George Clooney face, although some people may disagree and just call me a fat bastard.

I fell into the taxi business in 2011 when I was made redundant from a medium sized engineering firm and as there are few jobs available in my area the supposedly short term solution was taxi driving. Almost three years later, I am still on the taxis meeting life’s weird and wonderful people on a daily basis. It has been a total eye opener, rather like national service in the old days. Everyone should have to do 6 months on the taxis and they would see a different side of life. All of the stories in this book are perfectly true and although some people will think 'that can’t possibly have happened' I bear witness to the fact that they do. Sometimes I admit even I think "where is the hidden camera?"

But please read on and judge for yourself. Any comments you have for me would be greatly appreciated whether they be good or bad.
