Free Range Chicken In The Tropics

I got invited to give a presentation to farmers’ cooperatives in Bukidnon province in Mindanao, Philippines to share with them what I learned from my small free range chicken project. This book is basically a written version of that presentation—a simple, practical hands-on approach. It is not meant to be overly technical—there are traditional books for that. I sincerely hope it helps you. The farm is in my tropical Philippines, so I guess it will also be adaptable to other tropical countries. For commercial purposes, I suggest the Kabir breed (like Rhode Island), since they grow quickly and could easily reach 1.7 kgs in 10 weeks. Of the breeds, I favor least the Native breed. By the time they are about to reach 1 kg which takes a long 5 months, they are either stolen, eaten by pythons, or they simply wander off to the next barrio in search of better entertainment.
