Fascist governments provide a clear and present danger to republican democracy where the supremacy of the corporation supersedes the importance of minorities in a society. The most important minority in any society is the individual, and constitutional republican pluralistic societies have had constitutions that have kept corporate and socialistic tyranny at bay. Their purpose is to protect rights by limiting the powers of the state and the corporation. Unique among the explorations in fascist study is the idea that it is significantly easier to contemplate the ethnography externally instead of reflectively. The pejorative, “It's only fascism when they do it,†has some credibility. This phenomenon and sociological blindness happens largely when segments of the society trade their freedoms for the promise of security or subsistence. The powers of state are used to take from those who have and give to a non-producing entity and like sharks in the water, they come in mass so that the need far exceeds the ability to produce. The result on the masses is a zebra-psychology where the herd is thinned by predatory forces, and the remaining zebras are just glad it was not them, who had been eaten.
Is America Fascist, looks closely at the characteristics of fascism in Spain, Italy, and Germany in the 20th century and creates a template of defining characteristics. This template remains juxtaposed against an investigation of anecdotal evidence regarding recent history of the US with findings that even astounded this researcher who's bias favors American apologists and exceptionalists.
