Blessed at birth...or cursed?
Kathleen Telitha Herlihy is the product of two cultures. Raised by her Irish American father following the death of her mother, who was half Cherokee Indian, Kathleen has little knowledge of her mother's people. But she carries more than the mere appearance of her maternal grandmother, Telitha. Like others in the clan, Kathleen can charm beasts.
Just as she is developing her untapped skills, her cavalry sergeant father is killed, and Kathleen is forced to leave Fort Sill, Oklahoma to travel east to live with her paternal grandparents. Once poor Irish immigrants, her grandparents have ascended into the exclusive membership of Boston's elite. At almost six feet in height and with the bronze skin of her Cherokee grandmother, Kathleen does not fit the model of young ladies who wait to be presented to society.
With no interest in wealth or mingling with people of influence, Kathleen would prefer to spend her time perfecting the craft of her clan. It will become a battle of wills as she determines her own destiny amidst people who have no tolerance for a head strong young woman who wants to chart her own way.
