It’s ten years after the world was brought to an instant standstill through the extraordinarily evil cyber-attack of an unknown assailant somewhere in the world.
Elmer Mudd is the classic nerd – constantly on this computer – hacking , tracking, and cracking cases that no one else in the world is capable of. He lives in a single bare and boring room and cared nothing about anything except his precious cyber-world – until now!
After an early career on the digital dark side, he is hired by the Office of Homeland Security, which has long recognized his brilliance in cyber matters, first – to restore the world’s infrastructures starting with the paralyzed power grid and moving on from there, and later, to begin a new and dangerous project that will be revealed in the next volume.
At the same time, Elmer suddenly realizes his growing libido needs some, shall we say, massaging and so he decides to do the digital dating thing. But, he sees himself as the dull, plain, boring nerd that he is. After hunting to find an alter ego, he comes across the photo of an incredibly handsome, obscure actor and voila! Carlos McCarthy (aka Elmer Mudd) is born.
It doesn’t take long for Elmer to become inundated with women dying to engage with him, but he settles on a rather plain young woman from Hungary, named Natalia, who happens to share his love of all things computer as well as, shall we say, “other things.”
The intrigue intensifies as Natalia keeps pushing Elmer to “meet” in an online video conference, which causes him considerable angst.
The end of this story explodes with unanswered questions: is there another cyber-attack in the offing? How will Elmer keep his true self hidden behind the identity of this human Adonis? What is Elmer’s new project with the Office of Homeland Security? Why does Natalia’s college Internet Forensics professor want to meet with her after being out of school with no contact for several years?
These are just a few of the questions posed, the suspense conceived, and the beginning of a series of twists and turns that will leave you breathless.
