The Galaxy Is Our Playground: A Short Story

Previously published as part of a 2010 best of compilation,"Best Gay Love Stories 2010" this is the first stand alone digital edition of "The Galaxy Is Our Playground." This is a short story in the genre of romantic science fiction with dystopian elements.

Greg has been happily living on Central Station since humanity evacuated to the stars, primarily to four mass space stations spread across the Milky Way. Central Station has been his home, and he's made a comfortable life as a farmer. Considered equal parts attractive and cranky, his recent press for innovations made in farming technologies and techniques has brought him unwanted attention.

Josh Perez is attractive, engaging, and determined to improve the quality of life for the masses in the Milky Way. The son of a famous politician, Josh's attempt to balance his elitist sir name and the connections it brings with effecting real change has him receiving mixed press with the words humanitarian and diplomat sometimes appearing in quotes.

His latest endeavor will not only help thousands, but solidify his reputation as someone who can get things done. He has plans to make a space station to the far east of colonized space more self sufficient by converting some lower station decks into farming floors. He knows nothing of farming, but with bizarre space storms popping up randomly on the cargo route to the east he knows the project has to happen. If this conversion project is going to be a success--and it has to be-- he needs the best. He needs Greg Harris on his team.

Working together for long hours they soon realize they've found something in each other far more personal and meaningful than either one was looking for. Letting go of their preconceived notions about each other while dealing with the pressure mounting for the project to be a success, the process proves full of surprises neither one intended and neither can ignore.
