East and West-The Twain Shall Meet: Travancore British Heritage

This book is an offshoot of a desire of the Association of British Scholars (ABS) Trivandrum Branch to recognise and propagate the message of cordiality and friendship that existed in the past and continues to the present day between the people of Travancore and the people of Britain. The First attempt was an Exhibition of photographs depicting the history of this great connection, which was held in December 2012. The exhibition became a reality because of the kind support given by His Highness Sree Uthradam Thirunal Marthanda Varma, the current Head of the Royal Family of erstwhile Travancore. The extensive collection of His Highness’ photographs and memoirs gives deep insight into the history of the colonial past. The astounding success of the exhibition prompted the officers of the ABS to embark upon this highly ambitious project of bringing out this book.
