In Russell Westbrook: The Inspiring Story of One of Basketball's Premier Point Guards, you'll read about the inspirational story of basketball's rising superstar point guard, Russell Westbrook. Russell Westbrook's ascent into the top ten point guards in the NBA amongst the likes of Chris Paul, Steve Nash, and Rajan Rondo has definitely been a surprise. From once struggling to make his high school varsity team (he did not make it until his junior year) to spending his freshman year at UCLA as a benchwarmer, few would have predicted that Russell Westbrook would be selected as the fourth overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. The rest is history as the Oklahoma City Thunder continue their quest for a championship.
Russell Westbrook is easily one of the most exciting point guards to play the game of basketball. From flashy crossovers to high flying dunks, Russell Westbrook has a bright basketball career ahead of him.

An excerpt from the book:
The Western Conference is never an easy battle, and the Thunder will need Westbrook in order to secure their first title. But Westbrook, who has been so continually doubted throughout his career, is used to pressure. He went from a player who failed to make his high school varsity team until his junior year and a college bench player to the #4 pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. There were doubts about whether he should have been picked that high, but Westbrook’s hard work and dedication to basketball helped him steadily develop into one of the premier point guards in the NBA. Yet even at that pinnacle, there remain doubts about his play. Does he have the emotional temperament to remain the second star of the Thunder behind Durant? Is he too selfish, too concerned with looking out for his own numbers? Can a point guard be one of the main options for a championship team in what has traditionally been a league dominated by big men? The doubts were seemingly quelled after Oklahoma City’s defeat against the Grizzlies without Westbrook, but as Oklahoma City still managed to win 59 games in 2013-14 despite Westbrook missing over half the season, they have started up again. No matter what happens, the complaints will likely never disappear until the Thunder win in the NBA Finals.
Rather than respond directly to those who doubt him, Westbrook simply gets ready for just another game, whether against the Grizzlies or any other elite team in the league. Night after night, game after game, Westbrook thunders down the court, either leaping for a vicious slam dunk or passing it to another player for an easy basket. As he grabs yet another basket or assist, a wristband on his left arm dangles. Two words are inscribed on it. Two words which serve as answer to every question that he has heard, whether in the past or present.
