Merlin Ambrosius is the greatest wizard in Christendom. Everyone thinks so, including Merlin himself. (Especially Merlin himself.) He has everything: power, position, a magic mirror, a robe with stars on it, and a pointy hat. What could possibly be wrong with that?

Well, maybe the fact that no-one loves him. In fact, to be quite honest, no-one even likes him.

There's only one thing to do. He'll have to scour time and space to find the one person who can love him for who he is. Which is a pretty tall order, given that he's Merlin, i.e. pompous, conceited, self-important, and usually rather grumpy.

So it's a love story, is it? Well, yes, more or less. And like all good love stories, it includes kings, queens, dragons, knights in armour, a witch's cat, a garden gnome, and chocolate éclairs.

Especially chocolate éclairs.
