Fifty is Only Nine in Dog Years is the second book of adult humor from author Peter Julier.
The concept for this book came about from an essay he wrote called I Awakened the Giant Within--and It Ate My Pancakes, which describes the experience he encountered when he traveled across the country for a promising job interview that went horribly wrong. After much preparation, he was disqualified by a way out-of-left-field question that involved pizza toppings. While sitting in an airport restaurant feeling defeated and humiliated, waiting for his return flight home, the author reflected on his life and what awaits him in the years ahead. He tries to come to terms with the fact that fifty is the age when you're too old for wet t-shirt night at the Palladium and too young for senior bingo night at the Elks Lodge. Filled with humorous personal experiences, this book keenly portrays the absurd side of such things as health care, travel, tipping etiquette and gym memberships.
