RÄg bhÅ«p or bhÅ«pÄli is a very famous classical melody of north Indian HindustÄni music. Some people consider it a simple rÄg meant for the students of primary level. After deeply studying and learning rÄg music for about 35 years from many eminent masters, I personally realized that it is not so. RÄg bhÅ«p requires lot of insight for rendition.
RÄg bhÅ«p is a pentatonic melody that uses SRGPD/ CDEGa. Using the same tones there are many other rÄgs like deskÄr, jait kalyÄn, shudh vibhÄs, bhopÄli, auduv deogiri, ashvin bilÄval, mohanam, kalÄvati yaman and perhaps pahÄdi. Because of this multitude, presenting bhÅ«p correctly becomes quite difficult. In this small book, I have tried to justify the rÄg with elaborate guidance.
