Description

This web seminar covers important changes between the 2005 and 2010 AISC Specification for Structural Steel Buildings (AISC 360). Technical changes including bolt shear strength and combined compression and flexure are discussed as well as the introduction of Chapter N on Quality Control and Quality Assurance. This chapter replaces special inspection provisions for structural steel in Chapter 17 from the IBC and includes inspection requirements of structural steel buildings, fabricator and erector certification, and other quality assurance requirements.AISC 360-10 also includes the reorganization of several of its chapters. Chapter I on composite construction has been reorganized and there are many new sections on encased and filled concrete components. Chapter C on structural stability has been reorganized and clarified and now features the Direct Analysis method as the default stability design method. The discussion also includes changes to the resources created to help engineers implement the specification, such as the Manual of Steel Construction, shapes database, and examples.
