"Maria" is the first book of the "Treasures, Pleasures and Bones" trilogy.
Maria Clark and her best friend Margie Jeffries became orphaned on New Year's Eve when their parents died in a devastating restaurant fire. Marge moved to her grandparents in California, while Maria moved to her grandparents' farm in Silver Lake, Kentucky, a small town near Lexington.
But as she grew, Maria decided she wanted no part of the hard farming life and her frustration only grew when she lost contact with her friend, Margie, who didn't return to Kentucky for a visit after high school graduation.
Her life and lifestyle was going to to take a sudden turn, however, when she received a scholarship to The University of Notre Dame in Indiana. Were her hopes of becoming an attorney unrealistic? And would she ever see her friend Margie again?
