The bridge at Paranamucu: Drama in the Opening of the Trans-Amazon Highway

The Bridge at Paranamucu happens in a single, long, rainy Christmas night on the opening Trans-Amazon highway, as Gerry Carreiro drives his pickup truck, loaded down with screws, along the precarious, deserted 282-km stretch in a mute race against the flood he knows is at this very moment rolling from the cliffs of Serra dos Carajás toward his 115-meter bridge under construction, so far only fitted in place, that has to be screwed tight still tonight or else it will be demolished by the surging tide.

While driving, Gerry re-experiences the events he’s lived throughout at the places he passes. But halfway along he receives a sinister message: something inexplicable is happening at Paranamucu…

And there’s another puzzle: this enigmatic young male passenge here beside him, who has begun to exert an attraction upon Gerry fated to end up involving him in a fearful episode of death in the dark jungle…
