When an ominous red streak appears in the sky, Lilliana loses control over her gift. Instead of releasing fire from her palms, her entire body bursts into flames.

Her grandmother returns after a heated absence with dangerous news: The twenty-four hour period known as Code Burn has begun. Everyone's magical gifts will be expanded and some will be harmful. There is a magical lantern that keeps the magic in the quirky, seaside town of Mahogany, at bay.

Lilliana has to find the lantern -- or Mahogany will be destroyed.
