Dr. Eugene Poulos is a young genetics whiz on the corporate fast track. "I can hear every joint in your body, Gene," she said, her smile kinder now. "Every muscle movement, the flow of the blood in each and every vein. I can anticipate—" Gene made an abrupt move to his left, and again Alexy mirrored him precisely. "—every physical move you make," she finished with a smirk.
Gene eased back slowly, readying himself. Without warning he launched into a series of quick, precise maneuvers, techniques far beyond the elementary Tai Chi and Kung Fu he usually practiced. His body was steady again, centered, and he spared no movement, utilizing the roominess of the lab floor. He executed each move with the skill of an expert, a master of cross disciplinary martial arts. It was all a display of only a sliver of the wide set of skills he had acquired over the last few days.
