Rebecca gives Bridgette up for adoption feeling that she has no choice After the horrors of the Nuns at St. Catherine's, she begins to realise that there is only one thing to do, rebuild her life. Years later, Bridgette leaves home to become a nanny and falls for the irresistible Neil, the father of the family. She starts to learn a lot about men, her two mothers, and who is really there for her in her life. Sister Mary's secret has stayed with her for nearly thirty five years until by sheer chance, she discovers that things haven't been quite what she was led to believe. Can these women help each other, or have the wounds of time been too harsh. The women start to realise that they are connected through the adoption process but the surprises really start to happen as the story unfolds.
This book is a revised version of Jennifer's earlier novel Skin Deep
Below are reviews from that edition.
This story will help anyone who is adopted or is connected with adoption in some way Although written as fiction many feelings are expressed which are taken from personal experience by the author who is an adopted child herself.

I only picked up SKIN DEEP on a whim and I must say that the author does not disappoint! A heartfelt story of adoption and love I recommend this book to everyone. Compelling.

What a lovely read, this book was written from the heart.
I have no idea what it must have been like having no choice but to have your baby taken away from you, not knowing where, or to whom it was going to. It must have been heart wrenching.
Young girls made a mistake in their lives, the baby's father either not knowing or not wanting anything to do with the situation they had a hand in. Being adopted herself,,Jennifer has had first hand experience of this, and has written this well, giving us an insight of what the young girls endured, and what the children faced growing up with adoptive parents. It made me think how fortunate I have been with my life.
Jennifer is such a lovely, gifted and talented lady. If you ever meet her at MBS events, (where I first met her), have a reading with her.
If you have not read ''The Silver Lining'', that is a must as well.

I have read Skin Deep and I really enjoyed the book. From a males perspective I think the author has done a great job in making the story and ethos appeal to a male audience which is a tough thing to do with such as subject as abortion I would highly recommend Jenny's work to anyone who likes to read stories based in reality with a humanistic and spiritual truth throughout the book.
I look forward to reading more work by Jenny in the future.
