The "Index Librorum Prohibitorum" was first promulgated by Pope Paul IV, in 1559, and continued until formally abolished by Pope Paul VI in 1966. The author explains in this short book how the decision making process is conducted and the criteria applied. The final chapter contains a list of prohibited books at the time this third edition was published, viz., 1912.
