Hopscotch. Leapfrog. Marbles. Jacks. Hide and seek.
Just the mention of these games suggests memories of a long forgotten time. Reminiscence of wistful childhood memories creep into our thoughts, recalling a time when media didn’t siphon youthful moments and drone our children into an electronic feeding frenzy…
Through this work, Norman helps us remember a time when children were left to find entertainment through things as simple as a hat, a shirt, a chase, a giggle, a marble.
Norman Douglas was a loner for most of his life, and for this reason usually had only his travels to call friend or companion. He was a traveler, outcast, skeptic, observer, and writer. Because a part of his childhood was spent in England, it is possible that this book is a compilation of childhood memories. He is known for reporting what he found with objective, non-biased connection. If something seemed disturbing, chaotic, or too ritualistic, he merely says so, and moves on in a neutral, journalistic way. His hedonistic point of view and almost sarcastic writing style put him 100 years ahead of his time as he takes you on a guided tour of a world that no longer exists.
We are proud to be the first to present this literary work for the Kindle. It includes a biography on the Author.
