The Endless Valley: Tales from the Alien Voyager

The International Foundation for the Preservation of the Alien Voyager (IFPAV) is pleased to announce its first translated interpretation from the red chip for public release. Ever since the retrieval of the alien voyager (please consult the appendix for details), there has existed a overwhelming desire on the part of the public to learn its many and varied secrets. While much of the information concerning the object has been withheld and classified at the highest security levels, there has been a great deal of pressure to release the more innocuous details. The panel of experts feels the greatest outcry for this unrestrained exposure comes from the object itself. They are of the opinion that one of the most important objectives of its creators was the propagation of information provided on the attached red chip.
“They wouldn’t have put it there (the red chip) and made its access and interpretation so readily available to us if that had not been their intent,” Professor Mahoney is quoted as saying.
In particular, the IFPAV feels the historical information found on the chip represents a reasonable starting point for the release of this information to the general public. The chronological history provided by 'The Endless Valley' meets the criteria perfectly. There exists one important caveat however.
Apparently the aliens do not disseminate history in the same manner as we do here on Earth. Instead of a simple chronology of facts, dates and happenings (interesting, but uninspiring), they seem to prefer to impart their historical past with accounts from and about real people. They include characters from their history that have conversations, interpretations of feelings and exposure of shortcomings and faults. There is intrigue and mystery, murder and deception, action and adventure. In short, their history reads like a drama. The panel agrees. There is little doubt as to the accuracy of these depictions or that they actually took place. In other words, it’s a drama, but it’s real history. These people existed. These events happened.
