It is said the restless spirit of Chipita Rodriguez can be seen wandering the banks of the Aransas River and nearby properties. In 1863, the grisly remains of a man’s body was found floating in that same river. What followed was a veritable witch hunt of an elderly Hispanic American woman to answer for the crime. Who killed John Savage? Was it the elderly woman who owned the makeshift inn up the river? Or her slow thinking helping hand?
