Ethan: The Zion Settlements Book 2

This is the second book in a fictional Christian romance series with a touch of science fiction.

Ethan had been serving a mission for his settlement in the outworld for almost five years. He had found living in the outworld to be a great challenge. People here were into serving themselves and their fleshly pleasures. He was looking forward to the time when he would return home and a life-mate would be chosen for him. He was ready to be back with people that loved Elohim and wanted to follow His Word and His structure for society.

As his last duty in the outworld, Ethan and his fellow trooper Nathan were assigned to help on a cruise sponsored by a Christian radio station that the settlement supported in the outworld. The station had held a contest for three lucky winners and their two guests to spend a week cruising on the Great Lake while strengthening their walk with God. He and Nathan were in charge of scheduling activities, and providing security on the cruise. He had been informed that nine women would be coming on the cruise. The radio station was a favorite with the elderly at the church he and Nathan attended, so they had assumed that the winners would be elderly ladies. They made their activities and schedules accordingly. Shortly before the cruise left, they found out that all nine women were single and in their twenties. They tweaked their plans, and settled down for a relaxing cruise. Problem was that they planned according to settlement ways, not outworld ways. The women weren’t cooperative.

Kitra really was sick of men that thought they had the upper hand. Her supervisor at the place she and her sister worked was constantly trying to proposition her. When that didn’t work, he tried to corner her alone. He would threaten her with disciplinary actions if she so much as mentioned God, but it was fine for him to hang disgusting calendars all over the staff room. The country was going through a recession and jobs were very hard to find. They both felt stuck.

Kitra was excited when her sister Atarah won a week long cruise on the Great Lake after their grandmother’s best friend Miss Maddy entered their names. Even better was the fact that the cruise was sponsored by the Christian radio station her grandparents used to listen to. She would have a whole week around other Christians. True they probably would be her grandparents’ age, but she wasn’t one to complain. She was going to enjoy her week off.

Kitra and Atarah set sail along with seven other women including Atarah’s best friend Dara. Surprisingly all nine of the women are around Kitra’s age. She figures it’s going to be a wonderful experience, and then she met the two men in charge of the schedule and daily activities. Talk about two unreasonable sexist overbearing cute cavemen. The women quickly learn to become sneaky.

The women are enjoying their vacation when unexpectedly an explosion rocks the cruise ship and it begins to sink. Kitra finds herself struggling in the cold waters of the Great Lake trying to keep a nearly unconscious Ethan’s head above the water. She looks in the distance and sees small boats coming toward them. A couple men arrive and rescue them.

She arrives in the settlement cold, confused and a bit scared. Atarah was injured badly in the explosion. She is relieved to find that all eleven of the people that had been stranded in the water had made it, even the two overbearing sexist idiots of men. Kitra and the other women are gathered together to find out what is going to happen to them, when the leaders of the settlement offer them a shocking proposal. Do they dare accept?
