Thirty

Imagine living in a society where everyone retires at thirty. Where life only really begins after work is done—and on top of that, you’re matched with a partner you’re supposed to spend the rest of your life with, a partner chosen for you at birth.
Varr is one of the Matchmakers who assigns infants to their future partners, but he’s had to wait eighteen years for his own perfect mate to turn thirty.
When Mallick meets Varr for the first time and doesn’t feel an instant connection, he wonders whether the Matchmakers made a mistake. Since he doesn’t know what to do with his life now that he no longer works, he goes along with Varr, but when Varr reveals something about who Mallick really is, their perfect world comes tumbling down.
