That being said; this system almost always works but the effect is greatest if you’re planning to fly a less popular route. As you can imagine airlines face heavy competition from other airlines on popular routes. Because of this, prices tend to be low on these routes and to find an even cheaper options might not be possible. However, you never know.
Next to that, the system tends to work best on single flights and is ideal for open-ended trips. This doesn’t mean that it will not work on return flights but, just as with popular routes, return flights tend to be cheaper because airlines ‘award’ you by flying back with them. I guess you’ll just have to see for yourself. You can always ask for a refund.
