Hide & Go Seek: A Short Story

Mable’s father is dead and gone and her brother Clyde ran off, leaving her alone and stuck caring for her alcoholic mother for years. After her mother dies Mable meets Jimmy and begins her first long-term romantic relationship. Jimmy encourages Mable to look for her long-lost brother via the Internet. Once they locate Clyde they make a two hour drive across the state to meet up. Anyone who has ever been challenged by a dysfunctional family will relate to Mabel’s efforts to right her world. Her resiliency is a quiet revelation.
