“Sean is a wonderful teacher, well practiced in the teachings of mindfulness and compassion, dedicated and thoughtful.†- Jack Kornfield, Best-Selling Author and Founder of Spirit Rock Meditation Center
In 2008 Sean Fargo gives away everything he owns and moves to a remote forest monastery in the middle of Thailand, one heart-pounding step ahead of his rational brain. At 29 years old, he has just quit his jet-setting job to become a Buddhist monk to practice mindfulness exercises full time. As he grapples with a foreign language, 1 meal a day, and countless hours of silent meditation, he is tormented by a proliferating mind, sensual fantasies, and memories of the colorful life he once had. Responding to little more than the primitive instinct for survival in this isolated hermitage, he retreats ever deeper into the wilderness - and into the wilds of his own mind. Here he shares the some of the same power mindfulness exercises that saved him.
"I know Sean to be a man of integrity. He brings a sense of mission and heart into his work in the prisons where I’ve worked with him leading mindfulness classes and workshops. Anyone who he works with will be well served by his experience, intelligence and presence." - Jacques Verduin, Founder of Insight-Out
"Sean is an extraordinary human being and brings all of his resources to the work he does. He is hard working, passionate, caring, and clear seeing, and brings graceful precision to his work. I highly recommend him." Shauna Shapiro, Mindfulness Professor & Author, Santa Clara University
