Surviving The Fifth Force

Surviving the Fifth Force is a futuristic science fiction that follows two Chicago scientist's families and their homeless neighbors as they struggle to survive and understand the natural disasters and societal breakdown created by the convergence of dark matter, antimatter and the fifth force of nature.

Most of the total mass of the observable universe is simply missing along with all the antimatter that was created during the Big Bang. The most compelling theories say a subatomic particle called Dark Matter and a fifth fundamental force of nature called Dark Energy comprise this missing mass. Another group of scientists say there are planets and galaxies made up of antimatter and other invisible subatomic particles that account for the missing mass. We simply haven’t invented the technology to see them yet. The Fifth Force acts similar to gravity and, when encountered and unleashed, will change earth's gravity as we know it.

Electromagnetic pulses (EMP) rendering almost all electronics and modern transportation unusable, earthquakes, no electricity, reversed geomagnetic poles, no Internet, and no food or water all complicate their converging survival stories. Not to mention, the mysterious glowing hands that can penetrate any object, grab and float humans in air, transport bodies through solid objects, and seem to be stealing young women.

The downtown residents had to chose between staying alive and abandoning their suites that were under attack by humans and mysterious entities. The ex-millionaires spend their time going through trash, stealing and scavenging food and trying to outwit other competing gangs to stay alive.

One of the scientists suffers from the traumatic loss of his family and nearly loses his own life. He builds a car and travels through the hostile streets to join the ex-millionaires and help rescue his boss's family who were taken hostage and forced to give up ownership of their company that owns an EMP-proof Plasmonic technology. Reactions to personal tragedies have unseen, far-reaching effects.

The group uses interesting scientific methods and logics throughout, from finding food, water, and transportation to locating their kidnapped friends. Hidden jewels and a drug lord’s secret drug stash, gun and money create interesting twists to the story. Together they plan a deadly surgical strike. Their combined scientific discoveries help the whole country and eventually mankind. The shocking conclusion reveals the glowing hands’ ultimate purpose.

This is a story about friendship, deadly betrayals, murder, sacrifice, suspected terrorism, sibling rivalry, evolution, natural disasters and staring into the abyss point blank while not forgetting about our moral values. The plot develops into an intense, action-packed, fighting survival story.
