Employees’ Motivations
The Hawthorne Studies are famous for pointing out how the informal organization, social norms, group acceptance, and group sentiments can influence worker behavior (Mayo, 1933). The writings of Maslow, McGregor, Hertzberg, also stress the need to understand workers as individuals that have social and emotional needs. The author investigates how the views of Maslow, McGregor, Hertzberg parallel that of Mayo. The author then look to structure those theories to have applicability in today’s high technology workplace as solutions to reduce employees’ turnover.
