Description

‘Kākolūkīya – Revisiting the Third Book of Pañcatantra through Arthaśāstra and Mahābhārata’ is an attempt to search the influence of Mahābhārata and Arthaśāstra in the creation of Kākolūkīya, the third book of Pañcatantra. The enmity between the crows and the owls and the destruction of the owls by the crows is the theme of Kākolūkīya. The common character of the crows and the owls, they are the main animal characters in that book, in the Kākolūkīya is some what equal to the character of the epic heroes- the Pāṇḍavas and the Kauravas respectively. The policies, the crows used to confront its enemy, the owls, mentioned in the Kākolūkīya are an extended chapter of Kautilya’s Arthaśāstra. All these possibilities used to produce the current work.
