As a young man, the chances of the author visiting New Zealand were slim, just as remote as the Fabled Islands actually are. To many of his generation the place became something of a mystical Shangri La. It wasn't until he retired that it finally came within his reach. Then, he was able to set out with his wife to find out the truth about what they had been missing all those years. They hired a small campervan and embarked on their travels. What they found more than made up for all those lost years.
