This book, which was written in the early 1900's, describes the many benefits employers offered their employees. Salaries were the key part of the benefits, but additional perks such as clubs, libraries, better working conditions, etc., were also important.
The information is loosely about the field of scientific management from the benefit point of view. Prior to reading this book, I recommend reading "Applied Motion Study" to get a background in scientific management. The field is focused on improving efficiency to benefit the business owner with increased profits, the consumer with lower prices, and the workers with higher wages and benefits.
Businesses would be more successful today if they would follow this model, and many do -- absent the higher wages and benefits.
