Avery Phillips treasures the piece of paper with Dimitri Morrison’s private cell number on it, and for weeks she fantasizes about calling him, but she can never bring herself to do it. She flashes back to the time when she was a sophomore in high school and was date-raped by a senior from the basketball team, who broke her heart. She see’s too many similarities between the crush she had on him and the way she feels for Dimitri, so she throws his number away and decides to forget him.

Dimitri shows up at the BBW Club where she is stripping, begging to talk to her. When she refuses, he makes a scene in the club. She finds it hard to concentrate on her routine and barely makes it off the stage. He confronts her by the back door and begs her to go out with him on a date, or at the very least to let him walk her home. She finally relents and when her shift ends they go on a moonlit walk back to her apartment.
