The Master Mind Principle
In his book Laws of Success, (1928) Napoleon Hill spoke very freely about the Master Mind principle, which he defined as follows.
This law has been referred to by the author as the "Master Mind," meaning a mind that is developed through the harmonious co-operation of two or more people who ally themselves for the purpose of accomplishing any given task. (Hill, 1928, p21)
Napoleon Hill gives us the key to the Master Mind here when he says " a mind that is developed." He is speaking of developed in the sense that when several persons work together to arrive at a solution for goals to a task there are many different changes towards the solution and each one of them is further developed until the time comes for the idea itself mature enough to bear the fruit by which it was conceived and believed by the mind to be achieved.
Master Mind & the Apostles
This is the same development that took place between Our Lord and his twelve Apostles. At first he told them "I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now." However, later he told them-when they had been sufficiently prepared-"Go into the whole world and tell the Good News." They could not bear it for several reasons. First, the Apostles had not fully accepted Jesus was the Word, despite efforts to please the Lord. Jesus remonstrated Peter for his lack of faith, James and John for wanting to do harm to those who opposed his ministry. Even after his resurrection he had to call Thomas' faith to the task since he failed to believe Jesus had risen from the dead. In other words, as Hill said, there are many problems that arise in this Master Mind, which needs to be thoroughly developed. When the Holy Spirit came down upon the Apostles, they found themselves sufficiently prepared to carry out the work of the Lord. This was a great boon for the Apostle's who were simple fishermen.
We are now discussing the similarities and differences of the Master Mind principle, which Napoleon Hill introduced in his Laws od Success, and the Catholic Church. Some may think that there is not much merit to this kind of writing since Napoleon Hill's principle has been introduced and used by Millions of successful people from all over the world. However, there has been one such element, which I would beg the reader to entertain at this time and which I introduced at the beginning of this book; that is the element of supernatural faith.
When Napoleon Hill speaks of the Master Mind he also speaks of the power of faith, but his reference to faith always bears with it the natural principle of faith. He does mention Jesus Christ in his original book of Success principles.
