Indian Economy: Beauty Basking Under the Sun

Modi's bullet train is on the move. Track has been laid down. It has been an arduous task in a scam-ridden environment bereft of any effective governance. The administrative structure has been dug. For example, the holiest of holy -- the Planning Commission -- has been disbanded. System of allocation of natural resources like land, coal, spectrum, gas, oil, etc. has been made rule-based with no discretionary powers left nowhere in the hierarchy. Administrative decisions are more transparent. Officials are personally responsible if any action is found to be against laid-down procedures. Big bang reforms may not be required. Once the auto mode of decision implementation gets moving, India may be on a fast mode reaching the goal of what may be called Modi’s Goal of Development meaning SIR (Sustainable, Inclusive and Rapid growth). Official documents like Economic Survey, Union Budget, policy documents released by Government, and also media reports and analysis, provide fountain of data and information that one looks for to paint a simple picture as in this book.
