A GREATER SHARE OF HONOR

Near the end of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in the late 1980s, a sinister and twisted covert plot is initiated by the KGB and GRU to subvert select foreign Muslim fighters into proxy terror pawns for the USSR. However, as the Soviet Union collapses the operation runs off the tracks and is hijacked by an ex-GRU officer for his own personal gain.
The Muslim mujaheddin have their own agenda though and try to wrest control from this last Russian influence in order to raise their banner and declare Jihad against the West.
While the Jihadists and Russians struggle the CIA attempts to come to terms with a serious compromise of assets and the specter of another deep cover mole in its' ranks. Agents try to determine who the mole is and how best to staunch the hemorrhage of data and sources to the enemy.
All the while, a steadily increasing threat of terrorist attacks from terror groups and their proxies distracts attention and resources from day-to-day counterintelligence and counter-terrorism efforts. The story culminates with the terror attacks on September Eleventh and the American response. Interwoven throughout is the story of the struggle of a small band of operatives trying to protect their country from a tide of terror and evil that is only the tip of the iceberg.
